Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are very powerful tools that can treat a vast array of issues and conditions.

Hypnotherapy is a natural and organic process of tapping into the power of your own mind to achieve your self-improvement goals.  Many people think of hypnotherapy only for use with habits such as stop smoking or losing weight.  While it certainly is good for those, the power of the mind has no limits for personal application.

As a Hypnotherapist, I work with an almost endless array of personal achievement goals.  In some cases a medical referral may be required for issues of pain management and other medical related issues.  If you are working with another counseling professional already or have goals beyond personal self-improvement  then I may ask for a referral from the appropriate psychology professional.

It would be nearly impossible to list every possible application for hypnotherapy.  The list below can give you the general idea of the possible applications of hypnotherapy.

Specialties:

Chronic Pain Self-Management:
While in family practice, I worked with many people with chronic pain, and understand how helpless daily pain symptoms can make one feel, especially if it is persistent after conventional treatments have been tried. Chronic pain can be influenced by emotional states because of reinforcement from subconscious programmed beliefs and behaviors. In many such cases, instead of reliance on temporary pain relief from medications, modification of one’s perception of pain through hypnosis tools, and quality of life can be improved through learning self-management skills.

Weight Control:
Eating for your healthy body, instead of for your emotional state, is achievable through hypnotherapy. You will be given tools for facilitating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle for over-all health improvement, energy and well-being.

Anxiety:
We are born with primitive reflexive reactions to perceived threats to our survival: Fight, Flight, or Freeze. As social beings, we depend on cooperative behavior in society, and cannot thrive and succeed as well in self-preservation of our species by constant fighting, escaping into flight or becoming paralyzed by fear. Anxiety states became the alternative to Fight responses. Hypnosis can provide relief from these deeply distressful emotions, and can help our minds develop new behavioral choices to permit better coping strategies and comfort in moving forward in our daily lives, despite stress.

Memory:
Many adults are concerned by memory lapses. Senior citizens, particularly, begin to fear Dementia. Interestingly, Hypnosis can help allay fear and anxiety that may be underlying factors in poor cognitive function. If depression is a factor, hypnotherapy can be used in collaboration with evaluation and treatment managed by a medical provider, to improve function and quality of life.
Studies of patients with mild to moderate dementia have shown slowing and stabilization of cognitive decline through hypnotherapy treatment. Considering limited treatment success by pharmaceutical therapy, and the fact our country’s population is aging, the benefits of hypnotherapy are worthwhile to explore.

Smoking Cessation:
Most smokers have had great difficulty in stopping, despite conventional strategies and good intentions. Hypnotherapy decouples old subconscious programming that blocks success with time-proven methods and strategies.
